Fast, Secure & Reliable VPN

What is a VPN ?

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a technology that creates a secure, private connection between your device and the internet, often referred to as a "tunnel." This secure tunnel encrypts your internet traffic, protecting it from hackers, cybercriminals, and other potential threats.

How a VPN Stops ISP Throttling

A VPN prevents ISP throttling by encrypting your internet traffic, making it impossible for your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to monitor your online activities or intentionally slow down your connection based on usage.

ISP throttling refers to the intentional slowing down of your internet connection by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). ISPs may throttle your speed based on various factors, such as the type of traffic you're using (e.g., streaming, gaming, or torrenting), the amount of data you’ve used in a given period (data caps), or network congestion. This is done to manage traffic flow and prioritize certain activities, but it can negatively affect your browsing or streaming experience.

How a VPN Stops ISP Throttling:

VPN (Virtual Private Network) can help prevent ISP throttling by masking your internet traffic from your ISP. Here's how it works:

  1. Encryption: A VPN encrypts all the data that you send and receive, making it unreadable to anyone (including your ISP). This means your ISP can't see what you’re doing online (e.g., streaming video, gaming, or torrenting) and can’t throttle specific activities based on content type.

  2. IP Masking: By using a VPN, your traffic is routed through a secure server, and you are assigned a new IP address. This makes it more difficult for the ISP to track your usage patterns and throttle speeds based on your activities.

Example:

If your ISP throttles streaming services like Netflix, using a VPN can prevent them from seeing that you're streaming, which could help you avoid the throttling. By routing your traffic through a VPN server, your ISP won't be able to detect that you're streaming, thus maintaining faster speeds.

In short, a VPN makes your traffic appear as standard encrypted data to your ISP, which effectively stops them from selectively slowing down certain types of internet usage.
